I'm looking to make a Top 10 list of the toughest workouts of 2009....
help me out and post the hardest workout for you.... or the workout with the longest fallout.

2009 has been a great year of some amazing ass-kicking workouts! Here is my 2 cents worth:

Sat. Jan. 31, 2009
WOD:
[30 situps, 1 min plank hold, 30 hollow rock] x 2 rds
[50 squats, 30 box jumps (20"), 20 thrusters (25# / 20# db)] x 2 rds
[50 knee pushups, 30 pushups, 15 clapping pushups] x 2 rds

Mon. Feb. 16, 2009 (Family Day)
WOD: "Family of Lifts Day"
10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1
Deadlift BW
Sumo deadlift high pull (1.5p / 1p)
Med ball cleans (20# ball)

WOD: "Iso Holds"
-max jumping pullups (1 min)
-90 degrees pullup hold (1 min)
-max knee pushups (1 min)
-plank hold (1 min)
-max reps situps (1 min)
-hollow rock extension hold (1 min)
-max lunges (1 min)
-90 degree squat hold (1 min)

WOD: 3 rds
-25 squat clean + thrusters (25# / 20# db)
-1 min Russian KB swing (1.5p / 1p)

Mon. Aug. 24, 2009
WOD: 1 rnd
-6 mins max reps (24" box jump)
-rest 30 sec
-6 mins max reps situps (abmat)
-rest 30 sec
-6 mins max meters rowing

Sat. Sept. 19, 2009
Post-WOD game of DODGEBALL (boys vs. girls)
-you boys were mean!
-Andrew: probably not a good idea to nail your girlfriend in the face with a flying ball at full-speed! haha

WOD: 3 rds (with partner)
-7/7 KB squat clean (1.5p / 1p)
-7/7 lateral box jumps (24" / 20")
-14 knees to elbows
*partner must hold dumbbells (25# / 20#) in overhead position while other person completes the entire round. If dumbbells are lowered both people must do 3 burpees before continuing with the WOD*
-This is the only workout where I've seen Matt actually struggle with d.bells. Clearly, we all died.

WOD: rowing = death
-row 1000m (rest 5 mins)
-row 750m (rest 4 mins)
-row 500m (rest 3 mins)
-row 250m (rest 2 mins)
-row 250m (die of exhaustion)

Thur. Dec. 3, 2009
WOD: endless rds until 100 thrusters have been completed
-max thrusters in 1 min (25# / 20# db)
-10 box jumps (20" box)
-10 burpees
-10 pushups

Hands down the hardest WOD I did all year was the burpee mile, which Jonathan and I quickly turned into the burpee half mile. Still brutal and almost passed out. But from the gym:

Wednesday June 24
5 rounds:
15 jumping lunges
15 burpees
15 body weight Deadlifts

Wednesday July 22
2 rounds:
20 ring pushups
20 Med Ball cleans
20 pushups
20 dumbell cleans

Tuesday September 1
4 rounds: (add 5 reps each round)
5 front squat
5 press
5 overhead squat
5 push press
5 clean & jerk
5 jerk

Monday October 26
4 rounds:
25 Thrusters
50 situps

Monday November 2
Dumbell Bear Complex
1 round on the minute for 20 minutes
7 Deadlifts
7 Hang Power Cleans
7 Thrusters

And completely agree with Jen on November 17 and December 3rd. As well as anything Tabata, especially rowing.

There've been so many it's hard to chose.

I think tabata fight gone bad sucked in an entirely new and unpleasant way.

The heavy helen workout I did on a Friday was pretty tough:

3 rds for time wearing a 20 lb vest
400 m run
14 2.5 pood kb swings
12 pullups


The other one that comes to mind that Matt and I did on a Tuesday night.

3 rds for time. 1st rd 40# DB, 2nd rd, 25# DB, 3rd rd 20# DB
Deadlift 1 min
15 sec rest
Hang Power Clean 1 min
15 sec rest
Hang Power Snatch
15 sec rest
Thrusters 1 min
1 min 15 sec rest

I started the regular classes in September.

There have been many tough workouts for me but here are a few that stand out the most:

1000 m row
10 lunges, 10 jumping lunges 4rds
300 single unders

Max thrusters in 1 min.
10 box jumps
10 burpees
10 push ups
Endless rds until 100 thrusters.........my post workout entry was "Damn! That was hard."

350 row
30 squats
25 kettlebell swings
20 thrusters
15 burpees
2rds

21-15-9
medicine ball cleans
DB overhead squats
thrusters
sumo deadlift high pull

and of course...Murph

Sept 9

7 Deadlifts
7 Hang Power Cleans
7 Thrusters
on the min/each for 20 min

Sept 18
300 lb Tire Flips
as many as you can for 10 min
That was rough

3 rds for time
7/7 squats cleans
14 lat box jumps
14 knees to elbows
while partner hold DB overhead

Yes these ones were the ones that stick out in my mind as rough and tough...
