Dave and I just returned home from a short vacation to Las Vegas. While visiting, we decided to pay a visit to the local CrossFit box to squeeze in a workout or two and say hello to our friends south of the border. What always amazes me when traveling to other CrossFit facilities is the incredibly warm welcome that other affiliate owners, trainers, and gym members extend to visiting CrossFitters such as ourselves. CrossFit Las Vegas (http://www.crossfitlasvegas.com/) let us drop in for more than one workout during our trip, and their members were even kind enough to offer us a lift back to our hotel.
The kindness didn’t stop there. One of the members we befriended during the 5pm class mentioned on the drive home that he was going hiking in a famous national conservation area called Red Rock Canyon, and invited us to join him and a group of friends on a scenic hike the following day. Since Dave and I were already planning on renting a car to do this day trip ourselves, we were more than thrilled to have knowledgeable guides who kindly provided transportation and a free entry into the park with their seasonal pass. We spent an afternoon hiking and rock climbing a 4km loop that featured colourful sandstone formations, canyons, springs, a variety of wildlife, and an incredible view of the Las Vegas strip when we reached the top of the small mountain we were climbing. Our American friends then took Dave and I off-roading up another mountain in their 4x4 truck, an experience we definitely would not have been able to do had we rented our own car for the excursion.

Our American friends were amazing ambassadors and hanging out with them at Red Rock Canyon was a highlight of our trip! I have now traveled and worked out at the following CrossFit gyms:
CrossFit Kingston (http://crossfitkingston.blogspot.com/)
CrossFit Scottsdale (http://crossfitscottsdale.com/homeblog/)
North Scottsdale CrossFit (http://www.northscottsdalecrossfit.com/)
CrossFit Guelph (http://www.crossfitguelph.com/)
CrossFit Las Vegas (http://www.crossfitlasvegas.com/)
…and have had an equally great experience and warm welcome at all of these facilities. Positive experiences at other CrossFit affiliates really reinforce why I love this community so much – it’s the great people who run the CrossFit gyms and the hardworking members who sincerely welcome others into their classes that make this budding sport what it is. Thanks again to CrossFit Las Vegas and our American friends who made our trip so much fun!
