Background: Dave Henry is a Level 2 CrossFit coach and athlete at CrossFit London. Dave has also been an NCCP Coach (National Coaching Certification Program) since 1998. Dave is an experienced trainer in Olympic Weightlifting, Power Lifting, Indoor Rowing, and Endurance Training.  Dave has considerable experience in working with injured and limited athletes that are interested in safely maximizing their potential, and returning to sport or life.  Dave has his Black Belts in Jui-Jitsu, Hapkido, Taekwondo, Kenpo, and Black Arts Military Unarmed Combat. From 1997-2012 (15 years), Dave served as an Army Reserve Non-Commissioned Officer and was employed as a Section Commander, at the rank of Sergeant in multiple Infantry Units. He has held a formal instructional role with the military since 2001. Dave is also a certified First Aid Instructor.  As the owner of the gym, Dave has been involved with fitness for his entire life, but beginning in 2002, a more focused effort was made in preparation for some military endurance races. Some recent sporting highlights include participating in the Bataan Death March (43 km total distance) where he placed 14th in the Military Heavy Division, and 320th overall out of approximately 3,300 athletes. Dave has also participated in the 2 CMBG Ironman (50 km total distance). In both military races, competitors were required to run with a 35-45 lb weighted rucksack for the entire race distance. Dave’s passion for fitness and athletic success is evident in the effort he puts into each and every one of his clients each time he steps onto the floor to coach.

Background: Jennifer has been an athlete and nutrition-enthusiast her entire life.  Growing up, she excelled in competitive soccer, track and field, cross country, swimming, and ice hockey.  While earning her first degree in Life Sciences at Queen’s University, Jennifer was a member of the Women’s Varsity Ice Hockey Team, winning an OUA silver and bronze medal.  Jennifer’s athletic career also included four years as a Varsity Rower, split between her time at Queen’s and The University of Western Ontario where she completed a second degree in Foods & Nutrition.  While rowing at UWO, Jen successfully won the OUA banner twice, a Canadian Championship, and stroked her varsity boat to win and set a new course record at Head of the Charles in Boston, MA. She has also medaled at the National Rowing Championships competing against Canadian Olympic rowers. Currently, Jennifer avidly trains at CrossFit London to stay in shape, and her career highlights include a second place finish at the Ontario CrossFit Challenge (women’s scaled division) in July 2009 and a third place finish at the 2010 CrossFit Games Sectionals in Toronto.

As a Registered Dietitian and Sports Nutritionist, Jennifer founded a professional nutrition consulting practice that provides clients with personalized nutrition support.  Jennifer enjoys working with athletes of all levels, intimately grasping the impact that sports nutrition can have on performance and injury prevention.  Jennifer is happy to offer one-on-one nutrition counselling, computerized diet analyses, individualized meal planning, healthy recipes, and practical, time-efficient tips to help making healthy eating the “easy choice” in a busy world. Carly

Carly – Gym Dog

Carly’s Credentials:

  • Failed Service Dog with Autism Dog Services (although obedient, her overly-friendly nature and love of chasing balls got her rejected from the program)

 

Background: Carly is a black labrador retriever who has been with CrossFit London since the beginning. Originally fostered by Jen & Dave to become trained as a service dog for a child with autism, Carly was released from Autism Dog Services because of her overly-friendly personality (as if that’s even a flaw), and was adopted permanently into the CrossFit London family.

Carly’s hobbies include chasing balls and sticks, jumping onto high surfaces (she currently holds the gym record with a 60″ max height box jump), and offering kisses to exhausted CrossFitters post-workout. She one day aspires to be a pheasant hunting dog.

Sean Sinclair

Sean Sinclair – Coach

Sean grew up in London, ON and was involved in a variety of sports throughout school.  He excelled in baseball and played competitively as a teen.  He has been an athlete at CrossFit London for over 6 years and enjoys competing, especially on a team, at multiple CrossFit competitions.  CrossFit has filled the void of competitive sports that Sean grew up with, and allows him to stay motivated day in and day out.  CrossFit has changed Sean’s life in so many ways, and coaching was a natural progression.  He received his CrossFit Level 1 Certification in 2013, and absolutely loves teaching the Bootcamps.  It’s early, it’s dark, and members are achieving things they never thought possible.  Sean has a bit of a reputation for holding members to the highest standards, and can frequently be overheard calling out “No-Rep.”

In addition to coaching CrossFit, Sean has coached youth level baseball teams, and is the conditioning coach for youth cheer-leading at Catholic Central High School, and the CheerStrike Royals program.

Daniel Viger - CrossFit London Coach

Dan was a competitive hockey goaltender growing up before making the transition to competitive CrossFit.

He is a currently a senior at McGill University.  Upon receiving his Level 1 CrossFit trainer certification he began interning at CrossFit London in April 2015. CrossFit has given Dan the outlet to still be an athlete, and provided long-term goals to work towards with his fitness.

He has competed in the Canada East regional competition, other national level competitions such as the CompWOD’s Best of the Best competition, and has won local level competitions both individually and as a member of team.  In addition to his love for competing, through coaching Dan has found a new passion for making others stronger – both physically and mentally – and more confident through CrossFit. What he finds more important than overcoming the specific physical challenges athletes face (such as getting double-unders, muscle-ups, or running a mile without walking) is how the act of successfully completing a daunting physical challenge transfers to all aspects of life.

Danielle Metler – Coach

Danielle uses her professional knowledge as a Strength Coach and personal experience from competing  in CrossFit, long distance running, and fitness modelling to help you with the task of creating change.

Danielle is a mother, and prioritizes staying in shape combined with lots of family time. Each person has different goals and needs, but her goal is always to help you become the best version of you.

Teaching people to move safely and efficiently is always a priority, while challenging you to reach your  goals.
